Going into a care home, for an elderly relative can be a difficult experience. Not only for the person but also for the family.
My Mum went into Sambrook on 29 December following a short stay in hospital. She is 91 and had been struggling to cope at home. We tried carers 3 times a day, but this was not working.
Our experience at Sambrook from day one was amazing.
On admission we were greeted by the owner Neil and the care home manager Gill (who has been there for 17 years). They were welcoming and interested to find out as much as possible about Mum and us.
It took Mum about a week to settle but I remember vividly her comments on Sunday 2 January, she said “they are all so kind here and I don’t think I could be anywhere better”.
Mum has all of her faculties and I know she would tell us if things were not right.
We had been on tenterhooks for some time, whilst she was living alone, waiting for the next phone call to say she had fallen and injured herself.
Sambrook is a wonderful caring environment and Mum is thriving there. Since moving in she has regained a stone in weight and rediscovered her love for knitting, something she had not done for the previous 2 years.
She has a three course meal everyday, she raves about the homemade soup and quickly “trained the staff” to put 2 spoons of sugar in her tea!
Mum is happy and so are we, in the knowledge that she is safe, having support 24 hours a day and enjoying every minute of it.
We agree with Mum, she could not be anywhere better.
Mum, my wife and I feel a real part of the Sambrook family.

My mother-in-law has been in respite at Sambrooke House for the last two weeks. The staff are lovely, very caring, nothing too much trouble.
